That when we come together, we become the light. A social platform where your data, identity, and conversations belong to you — not to platforms, advertisers, or surveillance systems.
// The Manifesto
We believe your thoughts are your own. They do not belong to the platform you use to share them.
We believe anonymity is not a crime. It is a right, a protection, and often an act of courage.
We believe encryption should be the default — not a premium feature, not an opt-in setting.
We believe files shared between friends should never touch a stranger's server.
We believe you can have community, connection, and creativity without trading your privacy for them.
We refuse the bargain where convenience costs your identity. There is another way.
No man can control it.
Not us. Not a company that buys us. Not a government that leans on us. Nobody holds an off switch, because we built it without one.
Your keys stay with you
Your identity is made on your device and stays there, except inside a backup only you can open. There's no account for anyone to suspend.
Many relays, one mailbox
Your mailbox can live on several relays at once, run by different people. If one disappears or turns bad, the others carry on.
Anyone can run it
The whole thing, app and relay, can be set up by anyone with a free account, in one command. Copies can still talk to each other.
Open, and it stays open
The code is AGPL-3.0 and the protocol is written down, so anyone can check it, fork it or build their own. Nobody can close it up.

Circles
Groups of your contacts to post to. Only you see your circles. Nobody is told they're in one.
Personas
A persona is a name with its own key. Posts from it look the same every time, so people can follow it, but nothing ties it to you. Readers only know it's one of their contacts.
Muted
You don't see posts from these. They aren't told.

Set up your Kinsend identity
Your identity is a pair of keys made right here on this device. There's no account on any server. The keys are you, and your passphrase locks them.
There's no passphrase reset. If it's forgotten, this identity is gone unless you've made a backup. That's what keeps it yours.
Unlock messages
You're on this device.
Sending and receiving needs the relay switched on (core/relay.txt). Your identity and contacts work without it.
Your contact code
Send this to someone you want to talk to. It's safe to share: it only lets people send you sealed messages.
Your fingerprint
When you add each other, read your fingerprints out loud on a call or in person. If they match, nobody's in the middle.

Pulse Experimental
A mirror for how you sound
Talk for half a minute about anything. Pulse listens to how you sound, never what you say: your pace, your pitch and how much it moves, how loud you are, how often you pause. After a few check-ins it learns your normal and tells you plainly when you're off it.
The sound is analysed on this device as you speak, and thrown away. It's never recorded, saved or sent anywhere.
No speech recognition and no AI service. Pulse doesn't know a single word you said.
Only a handful of numbers are kept, encrypted with your identity, and they go in your backups.
It only ever listens to you, only while you're doing a check-in. The microphone switches off the moment you stop.
It's a mirror, not a doctor. It notices patterns and never diagnoses anything.
Talk for about 30 seconds. Tap again when you're done.
This check-in
How are you feeling right now? (optional, only you see it)
Over time
Each dot is a check-in, coloured by how you said you felt. The dashed line is your usual.
Pulse isn't a medical tool. If you're finding things hard, talk to someone you trust, or a GP or counsellor.

Sparks is now Kinsend, at kinsend.org. Your identity lives in this browser at this old address, so it won't follow you on its own. To bring it: open the spark button and save a backup here, then choose Restore from a backup at kinsend.org.
✦ Sealed end to end. Only the two of you can read these.
Their fingerprint
Yours
Read these out to each other on a call or in person. Both screens should show the same two numbers.
A backup is one locked file with your keys, contacts, messages and posts. Kinsend never sees it. You keep it. If you lose this device or forget your passphrase, it brings everything back.
Use a different passphrase from your daily one, and write it down somewhere safe. Without it, nobody can open the backup, not even you. After this, backing up is one tap.
Saved as .
Keep it somewhere other than this device: a USB stick, another computer, or your own cloud storage. It's a locked file, so it's safe wherever it sits.
A backup is a snapshot. Anything after now isn't in it, so back up again after big changes. The spark in the corner keeps count, and gets hotter the longer it's been.
Pick your backup file and enter its backup passphrase. Then choose a passphrase for this device. It can be the same as before.
